Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series with a commanding 93-run win over ICC World Test Champions South Africa on Day 4 at Gaddafi Stadium. The result snapped South Africa’s streak of 10 consecutive Test victories and marked Pakistan’s third straight home win against them.

Chasing 277 to win, South Africa were bundled out for 183 in their second innings. Noman Ali starred with match figures of 10 for 191, claiming his third Test ten-for, while Shaheen Shah Afridi (4-33) and Sajid Khan (2-38) provided crucial support.
Resuming at 51-2, South Africa lost Tony de Zorzi in the first over to Shaheen, followed by Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis to Noman’s relentless spin. Brevis top-scored with a brisk 54, but the collapse continued as Sajid removed Rickelton before lunch and trapped Muthusamy lbw after the break. Shaheen then cleaned up the tail in a fiery burst, dismissing Verreynne, Subrayen, and Rabada in quick succession.
Pakistan’s first innings total of 378 was built around fifties from Imam ul Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Shan Masood, and Mohammad Rizwan. Despite a middle-order wobble in the second innings, their bowlers ensured a comfortable finish.
The second Test begins on October 20 in Rawalpindi, followed by a six-match white-ball series featuring three T20Is and three ODIs.
