Sri Lanka's president Mahinda Rajapakse has cleared the national team's tour of Pakistan next month. The series had been confirmed by the Pakistan board last week but its status became uncertain after the Sri Lankan interim board, headed by Arjuna Ranatunga, was dissolved on Tuesday by the country's sports minister Gamini Lokuge.

Punjab easily clinch Pentangular title

A very competitive tournament produced a damp finale as Punjab Stallions eased home in the Pentangular Cup final defeating the Federal Areas Leopards by eight wickets at the National Stadium in Karachi. Punjab had been the strongest team through the tournament, going into the final undefeated, and they lived up to their billing as favourites with solid displays in all departments.

In what was a virtual semi-final, Ajmal's heroics sent FA through to the Pentangular ODI Cup final, in which they will play the unbeaten Punjab Stallions on Wednesday.
